Season's scents

Season’s scents

Concept, packaging design, production coordination & photography

Sometimes a design solution can be viable for the entire product life and never appear dated or stale. However, even the most established ranges can frequently benefit from an update. For example, the studio successfully redesigned a private label range for Long Barn in 2019 and created a look and feel that was clean and feminine, using a colour palette informed by the seasons and introducing watercolour. The range grew exponentially in popularity amongst visitors in the season launched; however, two years later, the client required another update to reinvigorate the shelf presence next to more 'shouty' products. For a redesign to work, it is best to retain some essential elements to aid recognition. When rebranding this range, for example, the aide de memoir is the same style of illustrations but now rendered as a screenprint, which is the essence of the original look and feels. This way, the old is made new, but recognition is maintained. Each fragrance demands a custom treatment, but in all cases, it is essential to respect the past while embracing the present.
