Design, at its best, has the power to articulate not only who someone is but what they love and why it matters. This was the challenge and the joy of working with Jessie Anderson, a singular artist whose medium is flowers and whose muse is nature. Jessie’s work isn’t just about arranging flowers—it’s about creating moments of meaning rooted in an abiding love for untamed landscapes and the ephemeral beauty of changing seasons.
From the outset, the brief was clear but layered: to craft a brand identity and digital presence that honoured Jessie’s deep connection to the natural world while introducing her artistry to a broader audience. The project demanded an approach that balanced reverence with innovation, elegance with rawness, and the enduring with the transient.
The brand concept emerged from Jessie’s favourite time of day—the golden hour, when the world is bathed in soft blue and fiery orange gradients. These transitions became the cornerstone of the visual identity. The palette evokes the quiet drama of this fleeting moment, rooting the brand in the rhythms of nature while conveying Jessie’s sensibility: warm, luminous, and intimate.
An oval-shaped logo is at the heart of the identity—a visual echo of sunsets, mountain ranges, and the delicacy of an Icelandic Poppy in bloom. Drawing on Jessie’s fascination with the interplay between light and shadow, bloom and decay, wildness and refinement.
The website extends this vision into a digital realm, blending photography, design, and storytelling to create a platform as tactile and evocative as Jessie’s floral arrangements. Subtle gradients mirror the brand’s natural palette, while the imagery—shot to capture the immediacy of Jessie’s hands at work and the quiet poetry of her creations—grounds the site in authenticity.
Throughout this project, collaboration with Jessie was a reminder of design’s deeper purpose: to reveal and amplify the truths of a creative life. Whether exploring her inspirations or discussing the influence of her pottery and design practice, the process became a shared meditation on honouring and interpreting nature’s beauty.
